Dr. G's medical oversight

Every neurotoxin treatment I do is under Dr. G's medical oversight. I'm the licensed RN doing the injection, following physician-directed protocols. Dr. G has 23 years of practice and about 12 years in aesthetics. You can look up my license on the North Carolina Board of Nursing site.

What a neurotoxin brow lift does

Some muscles pull your brows down and others pull them up. A neurotoxin brow lift relaxes a little of the downward pull, so the brow, often the tail of it, can sit slightly higher. The change is small. People tend to say you look more awake, not that your brows moved.

It isn't a surgical brow lift, and it won't lift heavy skin off the eyelid. If that's the concern, I'll tell you a neurotoxin lift isn't the right tool.

How it differs from forehead Botox

Forehead lines come from the muscle that raises your brows. Treating that muscle heavily can let the brows sit lower, and the Botox Cosmetic label lists brow drooping as a side effect of forehead treatment. That's why I look at your brows and forehead together and dose them as one plan. Sometimes the brow lift is part of a forehead and frown-line visit; see Botox in Huntersville.

An honest note about labeling

The FDA prescribing information for Botox Cosmetic lists the approved cosmetic areas: frown lines, crow's feet, forehead lines, and neck (platysma) bands. The brow isn't on that list, so this is an off-label use. Off-label use is common in aesthetics, and I'd rather tell you up front than have you find out later.

What it costs

The pricing page lists a brow lift at 4 to 8 units. All neurotoxins are $13 per unit, so that's $52 to $104. If you add other areas, those units are the same $13 each. I confirm the count at your free consult before anything is injected. The full per-unit breakdown is on Botox cost in Huntersville.

Does it hurt?

Most people describe a quick pinch from very fine needles. It takes a few minutes.

Downtime

There's no real downtime. Most people go back to work the same day. A small bump, a little redness, or a bruise at an injection site is possible.

How long it lasts

You'll usually notice it over the first several days, and it settles at about two weeks. MedlinePlus says cosmetic Botox for frown lines, forehead lines, and crow's feet may be repeated every 3 to 4 months, depending on how long the effect lasts. That guidance covers those areas, not this one, so I won't promise a number. We'll see how yours held at your follow-up.

Your first visit

I watch your brows at rest, when you raise them, when you frown, and when you talk, and I look at how the upper eyelid sits. Then I tell you whether a neurotoxin lift will show, how many units I'd use, and what it costs. I dose on the light side. At your included two-week follow-up, I can add a unit or two at no charge.

Is it safe? When to wait

Botox and Dysport are prescription drugs. MedlinePlus summarizes the patient information for onabotulinumtoxinA (Botox) and abobotulinumtoxinA (Dysport). Tell me before anything is injected if:

  • You're pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding.
  • You have a condition that affects muscles or nerves, such as myasthenia gravis, ALS, or Lambert-Eaton syndrome, or you've had trouble swallowing or breathing.
  • You've had a side effect from any botulinum toxin product before.
  • You have a big event in the next two weeks.

The FDA prescribing information for Botox Cosmetic lists side effects such as eyelid or brow drooping and headache. The CDC's page on botulinum toxin injections is worth reading before you book anywhere.

What I can't promise

How high the brow will sit, or for how long. Both depend on your muscles and your anatomy. Browse the services page for everything else.
