Medical director supervision

Every nose treatment is done under the supervision of a medical director. I'm the licensed RN doing the injection, following physician-directed protocols. My medical director has 23 years of practice and about 12 years in aesthetics. You can look up my license on the North Carolina Board of Nursing site.

Who it may suit

  • A small bump you'd like to blend.
  • A tip you'd like to sit slightly higher.
  • You've thought about surgery but want to see a smaller, nonsurgical change first.

Who should talk to a surgeon instead

  • You want a smaller nose. Filler adds volume; it can't reduce.
  • You have breathing problems or want a functional fix.
  • You've had nose surgery before. Tell me, and we'll talk about whether filler is wise at all.

Turning someone down is part of doing this safely.

Off-label, in plain words

The FDA's dermal filler page lists the nose among the areas where it recommends against filler injection, and says those uses are not approved by the FDA. So liquid rhinoplasty is an off-label use. I'd rather you hear that from me than find it later.

The blood-vessel risk

The FDA calls filler getting into a blood vessel the most concerning risk of dermal fillers. The chance is low, but it can cause tissue death, vision problems including blindness, or stroke. I wrote a full explainer on what a vascular occlusion is, with the warning signs and the treatment steps.

HA filler can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. I keep it on hand and have a written emergency protocol for a blocked vessel.

Know the signs

Get care right away for unusual pain, any change in your vision, skin near the injection that turns white, gray, or blue, or any sign of a stroke. After hours, call or text (704) 584-9785. In an emergency, call 911.

Cost

Per syringe, quoted at consult, listed with dermal fillers on my pricing page.

Pain and downtime

Pressure and pinches during the visit. Some fillers contain lidocaine, a numbing medicine. Some swelling or a bruise for a few days is common.

How long it lasts

The FDA says how long a filler lasts depends on the filler material and where it's injected, and that absorbable fillers break down over time, so the treatment may need repeating.
