Standard or hyperdilute, Radiesse is done under the supervision of a medical director. I'm the licensed RN doing the injection, following physician-directed protocols. My medical director has 23 years of practice and about 12 years in aesthetics. You can look up my license on the North Carolina Board of Nursing site.
People often come in saying their skin looks thinner or less firm, not that they've lost a cheekbone. That's where the diluted version comes in. When the concern is shape or support, standard Radiesse or a different product is the better conversation.
I'll tell you which concern I think you have. Sometimes it's both, and sometimes Sculptra or HA filler fits better. Sculptra in Cornelius covers the PLLA side.
I can't promise how much your skin will change. Faces respond differently, and the FDA notes that results depend on the underlying tissue and the type and amount of filler used.
Radiesse is not reversible. The FDA notes that fillers not made of materials such as hyaluronic acid can be difficult or impossible to remove. That's the honest trade-off: HA filler can be dissolved, and Radiesse can't.
The FDA notes CaHA can show up on x-rays, so let your doctor or imaging team know you've had it.
Per syringe or session, quoted at consult, as shown on my pricing page. You get a specific number at the free consult.
You'll feel the needle as a series of small stings and some pressure, and some fillers contain lidocaine, a numbing medicine. Afterward, mild swelling or a bruise may show for several days, usually nothing that keeps you from work.
The FDA puts the effects of calcium hydroxylapatite at approximately 18 months. That's general, not a promise.
We sit down in good light and look closely at texture, firmness, and thin spots. Then I tell you whether diluted Radiesse is worth it for your skin, and what it would cost.
The FDA's page on dermal fillers explains the risks. Wait if you're under 22, since the FDA approves dermal fillers for adults 22 and older, or if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, because the FDA says filler safety there is unknown. If the skin where we'd treat is inflamed or infected, including acne, a rash, or hives, we reschedule. Tell me about a bleeding disorder, severe allergies or past anaphylaxis, a lidocaine allergy, or a tendency to form keloids or raised scars.
Common side effects on the FDA's list are bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching, and many clear up within days to weeks. The serious one is filler entering a blood vessel. The FDA calls that chance low, but it can cause tissue damage, vision problems including blindness, or stroke. If you notice unusual pain, any change in your vision, or skin near the injection site turning white, gray, or blue, get care right away.
