Dr. G's medical oversight

Your treatment is done under Dr. G's medical oversight. I'm the licensed RN doing the injection, following physician-directed protocols. Dr. G has 23 years of practice and about 12 years in aesthetics. You can look up my license on the North Carolina Board of Nursing site.

If you don't like it

HA fillers are reversible. If a result isn't right, HA filler can usually be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase. That's a procedure with its own risks, so I treat it as a backup. The better plan is placing conservatively and checking at two weeks, which is how I work.

Most of the time the fix is smaller than dissolving. At the included follow-up we look at the settled result, and if one side needs a little more, I adjust it at no charge.

Questions to ask any injector

Whoever you book with, in Mooresville or anywhere else, these are fair questions:

  • Who does the injection, and what's their license? You can check a North Carolina nurse on the NC Board of Nursing site.
  • Is a physician involved, and how?
  • Is the filler hyaluronic acid, so it can be dissolved if needed?
  • Is a follow-up included, and does an adjustment cost extra?

The FDA's dermal filler dos and don'ts are worth reading too. My answers: I do the injection under Dr. G's medical oversight, I use HA filler, and the two-week follow-up and any adjustment at it are included.

What it costs

Cheek filler is priced per syringe and quoted at your free consult. Coming from Mooresville doesn't change the price. You get an exact estimate before anything is booked, and the pricing page explains how it's set. Financing through Cherry and CareCredit is available for treatment plans.

Does it hurt?

Pressure, mostly, with a little sting here and there. Some fillers contain lidocaine, a numbing medicine, which helps as I go.

How long it lasts

The FDA says how long a filler lasts depends on the filler material and where it's injected, and that absorbable fillers break down over time, so the treatment may need repeating.

Downtime

Visits usually run under an hour. A few days of swelling is normal, and bruising is possible. Most people drive home and carry on with their day. Book at least two weeks before anything important.

Your first visit

Bring your questions, including the ones above. I look at your face from the front and the side, at rest and while you talk, and tell you what I'd do, what I'd skip, and what it costs. If you want to think it over, that's fine. Nothing is injected until you've said yes.

Safety and who should wait

The FDA's page on dermal fillers explains the risks. Wait if you're under 22, since the FDA approves dermal fillers for adults 22 and older, or if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, because the FDA says filler safety there is unknown. If the skin where we'd treat is inflamed or infected, including acne, a rash, or hives, we reschedule. Tell me about a bleeding disorder, severe allergies or past anaphylaxis, a lidocaine allergy, or a tendency to form keloids or raised scars.

The FDA lists bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching as common dermal filler side effects and says many clear up within days to weeks. The most serious risk is filler getting into a blood vessel. The FDA calls that chance low, but it can cause tissue damage, vision problems including blindness, or stroke. Get care right away for unusual pain, any change in your vision, or skin near the injection site that turns white, gray, or blue.

What I can't tell you yet

I can't tell you how many syringes you need until I see you. If your goal goes past the cheeks, read facial balancing in Mooresville or jawline filler in Mooresville. New to filler? Start with dermal filler, or browse the services page.
