Each session in the plan is done under the supervision of a medical director. I'm the licensed RN doing the injection, following physician-directed protocols. My medical director has 23 years of practice and about 12 years in aesthetics. You can look up my license on the North Carolina Board of Nursing site.
The FDA describes PLLA as given in a series of injections over a period of several months, with effects that become more apparent over several weeks. In practice that means:
If there's a wedding or a big trip coming, tell me. Sculptra isn't the tool for a fixed date in a few weeks.
The FDA notes that fillers not made of materials such as hyaluronic acid can be difficult or impossible to remove. That's the honest trade-off: HA filler can be dissolved, and Sculptra can't.
Per session, quoted at consult, as listed on my pricing page. Because the plan is spread out, the cost is too. Financing through Cherry and CareCredit is available for treatment plans.
Most people feel pressure and a few pinches. Some fillers contain lidocaine, a numbing medicine; whether the product you get does is something I'll go over with you, and we talk through numbing at your consult.
A few days of possible swelling and bruising after each session. Most people go back to work afterward.
The FDA says PLLA effects may last up to 2 years. That's a general description of the material, and I won't promise a number for you.
We look at your face together and map the timeline above onto your calendar. You'll know the expected number of sessions and the price of each before booking.
The FDA's page on dermal fillers explains the risks. Based on that guidance, wait or bring it up at your consult if:
Common side effects on the FDA's list are bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching, and many clear up within days to weeks. The serious one is filler entering a blood vessel. The FDA calls that chance low, but it can cause tissue damage, vision problems including blindness, or stroke. If you notice unusual pain, any change in your vision, or skin near the injection site turning white, gray, or blue, get care right away.

It depends on your face. The FDA describes PLLA as given in a series of injections over several months, and Kat tells you the expected number at a free consult.
Gradually. The FDA says PLLA effects generally become more apparent over several weeks.
It isn't a good fit for a fixed date a few weeks away, because the change builds slowly.
Priced per session and quoted at a free consult.
No. It can't be dissolved the way HA filler can.
