Dr. G's medical oversight

Each step below happens under Dr. G's medical oversight. I'm the licensed RN doing the injection, following physician-directed protocols. Dr. G has 23 years of practice and about 12 years in aesthetics. You can look up my license on the North Carolina Board of Nursing site.

Your first visit, step by step

  1. The consult. You tell me what bothers you about your jaw or chin, and I ask about your health history and any filler you've had before.
  2. The profile check. I study your jaw and chin from several angles, still and in motion.
  3. The plan and the price. I tell you where I'd place product, how much, and the cost. You decide. Nothing happens until you say yes.
  4. The treatment. Placement along the jaw and chin is deep and deliberate. Most visits run under an hour.
  5. Aftercare. I go over it before you leave, and you can call or text with questions.
  6. The two-week follow-up. It's included. I check the settled contour and refine it at no charge if needed.

Before you book

Count back from any event. Swelling settles over a few days, but I want two weeks between treatment and photos so we've had the follow-up. Read the list under safety below too, since some of those are reasons to wait.

What it costs

Jawline and chin filler is priced per syringe and quoted at step three, before anything is booked. The jaw and chin usually take more product than lips. The pricing page explains how it works. Financing through Cherry and CareCredit is available for treatment plans.

Does it hurt?

Most people feel pressure more than pain. Some fillers contain lidocaine, a numbing medicine, and you can ask me to stop at any point.

How long it lasts

The FDA says how long a filler lasts depends on the filler material and where it's injected, and that absorbable fillers break down over time, so the treatment may need repeating. We'll see how your result is holding at the follow-up.

Downtime

Expect some swelling or tenderness along the jaw for a few days, and possibly a bruise. Most people go back to their day after the visit.

Is jawline filler safe?

Before you book anywhere, read the FDA's page on dermal fillers. These are the reasons I'd ask you to wait or talk it through first:

  • Under 22: the FDA approves dermal fillers for adults 22 and older.
  • Pregnant or breastfeeding: the FDA says filler safety is unknown during both.
  • Acne, a rash, hives, or infection where we'd inject.
  • A bleeding disorder, severe allergies, past anaphylaxis, or a lidocaine allergy.
  • A history of keloids or raised scars.

Common side effects on the FDA's list are bruising, redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, and itching, and many clear up within days to weeks. The serious one is filler entering a blood vessel. The FDA calls that chance low, but it can cause tissue damage, vision problems including blindness, or stroke. If you notice unusual pain, any change in your vision, or skin near the injection site turning white, gray, or blue, get care right away.

What I can't tell you yet

I can't tell you how much product you need until step two. If the cheeks are part of the picture, see cheek filler in Birkdale or facial balancing in Birkdale. The full menu is on the services page.
